Laura E. Bergus

Laura Bergus was born in Iowa City in 1981. She received a B.A. with special honors and highest distinction from the University of Iowa in 2002. She received a J.D. with highest distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2011. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and Order of the Coif.

Before attending law school, Laura was telecommunications director for the City of North Liberty, Iowa. Laura’s background is in technology and multimedia, including video production and web design.

Laura also volunteers her time in the community. She was co-founder of the North Bend Historical Society, served on the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce Steering Committee and the North Liberty Development group, chaired North Liberty’s Blues & BBQ committee and the Johnson County Livable Communities Initiative Website Action Team, volunteered with Iowa Legal Aid, and was a member of the Johnson County Community Network board of directors. She currently serves as vice chair of the Iowa City Telecommunications Commission.
