David Brown was born in Waukon in 1949.  He received a B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1971 and was also admitted to Phi Beta Kappa.  He then received a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1974 and an M.A. from the University of Iowa in 1978.  He served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Iowa City from 1980 to 1987.  David became an associate at our firm in 1987 and a partner in 1990.  He also served as City Attorney for the City of Riverside from 1992 to 1993.

In addition to his law practice, David is a member of the Johnson County Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, and the Iowa Defense Counsel Association.

David has been admitted to practice before the following courts: State of Iowa Bar (1980), United States District Court - Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa (1981), United States Court of Appeals - Eighth Circuit (1988) and United States Supreme Court (1993).

David's published cases include: Ewoldt v. City of Iowa City, 438 N.W.2d 843 (Iowa App., 1989); Fry v. Iowa City, 538 N.W.2d 302 (Iowa App., 1995); and State v. Melk, 543 N.W.2d 297 (Iowa App., 1995).

David has a general law practice with a focus on criminal defense, civil defense litigation, estate planning, insurance coverage litigation, and domestic relations.
